CGDB S.r.l. was founded in 1973 and produces hip prostheses, sold under BIOIMPLANTS trademark and relevant instruments, bipolar and femoral heads in Stainless Steel and Cobalt-Chromium-Molybdenum alloy. All stems produced by CGDB are certified for use with BIOLOX femoral heads in Ceramic.
Prostheses, in the cemented and non cemented versions, are mainly produced in Titanium Alloy 6Al4V, but the complete range also includes Stainless Steel and Cobalt-Chromium-Molybdenum alloy for the cemented stems. The coatings used by CGDB for its products are Hydroxyapatite, Biovetro and Porous Titanium.
Biovetro is home made by CGDB. It is a glass based bioactive material having an osteoinductive function, applied on prostheses by a plasma-spray process.
CGDB has obtained UNI EN ISO 9001 : 2000 (ISO 9 ...001 : 2000) and UNI EN ISO 13485 : 2004 (ISO 13485 : 2003) certifications and complies with the prescriptions of the Annex II - Directive 93/42CE and it is authorized to apply the CE mark No. 0426 on its products classified into Class III b of the European Directive on Medical Devices.
All devices produced under BIOIMPLANTS trade mark are designed, manufactured and sold following strict procedures and they are submitted to quality controls according to the international standards. CGDB only uses very high quality materials approved according to ISO and ASTM Specs. The main production techniques are press-working, CNC working, grinding and lapping of the sliding surfaces.
