The Bipolar hemiarthroplasty, also defined as bipolar or bicentric arthroplasty, was ingeniously conceived as a mean to eliminate, or at least reduce, the intolerance that the skeletal acetabular cup develops in direct contact with the metallic head of an endoprosthesis or a classic hemiarthroplasty.The Bipolar system, composed by a metallic cup and an insert, is designed to lighten the acetabular cup of most of the articular movement, which is therefore split it into two joints: one
between the natural acetabulum and the metallic cup and the other one between the femoral head and the insert.
