'Gsl' Cemented Stem

General product information

GSL stem is intended for use in the orthopaedic field for the cemented surgery of the coxo-femoral joint. It consists of a straight, monolithic stem, flattened in the anterior and posterior

sides, which are marked by longitudinal lengthwise grooves to enhance the fixation of cement. GSL is designed as self-locking because, though cemented, during the implant tends to adapt

itself, by a press-fit process to the medullary cavity modelled according to its shape.

The philosophy of a self-locking stem is that to obtain a very strong rotatory stability by means of a flat profile and to use a layer of cement very thin, uniform and non subject to heavy

shearing stresses per surface unit. At the bulb level, the lateral edge recedes to make the implant easier and to reduce to the minimum extent the reaming of the trochanter major.
