A thin sheet positioned on the outside of the dental arches; between the dental arches, the lips and the cheeks. The sheets may or may not be perforated with large or small holes, thereby creating three types of plug: Permeable, Semi-permeable, Impermeable, Clinically, they are used in this order to restrict mouth breathing.

Rims along the periphery of these plugs stimulate the labial musculature.

Effects: progressively reduces mouth breathing, stimulates the labial musculature and facilitates closing of the lips.

Suitable for correcting mouth breathing.
