General product information
Capsular Tension Rings (CTRs) have become increasingly important in complicated cataract surgery as well as in refractive lens surgery. The CTR offers substantial reduction of intraoperative risk by allowing redistribution of applied force to the entire circumference of the capsule and by placing the posterior capsule on stretch. They also prevent vitreous herniation and maintain the circular contour of the capsular bag. CTR's also tend to reduce intraocular lens decentration, which improves vision and gives additional support to the IOL.
